Where I'm From

I miss all of you in Camp Casey...Please drop me a line or a write a comment on the blog to let me know what has been happening since I left yesterday. I can't say I miss the heat in Crawford but it is, after all, an essential ingredient in the magic happening there. Keep up the good fight. I love you all.

Alaska Gyrl:

We met in Crawford before our wedding last Sunday. Thanks for the photo on your blog, we have seen so few. If there are others, I'd love to get them.

Tonight, Camp Casey comes to Austin as they kick off the Crawford to Washington DC bus tour. Cindy and the gang will be holding a march from the state capitol beginning at 5:15 PM to city hall, where a rally will be held. My dearest Genevieve Van Cleve will be speaking/slamming with Cindy, so we're all going.

Thanks for your blog from Camp Casey, we will never forget that place.

As we walked the mile to our car away from CC on our wedding night, the tent glowed in the distance. It looked like a spaceship on the Texas prairie.

Looking back, we realized that the place we were wed will physically disappear today. The gathering on that Texas roadside, that collection of people from all over the United States and around the world will never exist again in the same way. It was a perfect moment in time where love and the ideal of peace was celebrated. It was a perfect place to get married.

Thanks for documenting it all.

Thank you Peter, for the update and the beautiful thoughts on the camp...you seemed to find the perfect words to describe the magic that happened at Camp Casey...and congratulations on your truly unique wedding celebration. Keep up the good fight for peace and saniity Kim aka Alaska Gyrl
I will go back through all my pics from your wedding and send you some. Unfortunately, I was not in a good position during your ceremony and someone was snippy to me when I tried to move forward for some better shots. Bummer

Hi Kim,
It's Cindy Bogard writing. We met at Camp Casey. I'm the woman who was blogging for afterdowningstreet.org and used your computer to file before we got the bugs out of the wireless connection. I'm writing because I would love to use some of your wonderful photos in the talk I'm preparing on Camp Casey (I'm a university professor in "real life.") I would also like to make a powerpoint presentation available for downloading so that other educators can use it also. Could I use some of your photos in my work? If so, will you send me your last name so that I can credit you properly? I will surely send you a copy of anything I create that includes your photos. And I promise to always credit you properly.
Please let me know asap as I need to start creating this presentation in the next couple of days.
Regardless Kim, I thank you so much for your posts. After leaving Camp Casey my husband and I were SO homesick for it and your photos and comments really helped us stay connected. I hope to see you in DC on the 24th at our camp reunion.
Thanks and best regards,
Cindy Bogard

Hey Alaska Gyrl! Thanks for signing my shirt. I still haven't counted the number of signatures, but I had to stop asking because it was getting hard to find an open space. I have a picture of you on my web site: http://www.qualset.net/CampCasey/images/AlaskaGyrl_1.jpg. (AlaskaGyrl_2.jpg, also. Web page to come.)

What an amazing experience! The song going through my head was "What's so funny about peace, love and understanding?" - Elvis Costello

Were you there for the Monday evening when the Bush supporters came over to Camp Casey 1 for taps? Awesome!

Peace to you.
